factory tach and gauges

In swapping out the idiot lights for the factory gauge cluster on a 1985 Firebird will the alternator continue to charge tha battery after the change over to gauges, or will the "battery" light circuit need to be maintained to accomplish this? I have the GM shop manual, and the charging circuit diagram is different for the warning light and gauge cluster cars. Thanks.

The volt meter should tell you if it is charging. Also, from a change on my 84 monte carlo...the wire ways in the dash will make correct contact to the the pads in your new assembly. Just dont button everything up until you take a min to be sure all is working.
