good ground location for alarm system?
hooking my alarm system back up and previously it was run thru the firewall and attached to the fender in the eng bay. my thoughts are to ground it inside the car to the dash frame or body under console... opinions?

Ground location?
The ground in the landfill. The ground in a hole in your back yard. The ground along the highway (well, maybe not that one). You get the idea. Most alarm systems are failures just waiting for the most inopportune moment to occur.
Actually, many of the alram systems available are just fine from a hardware perspective. It's generally the installations that are the problem, especially those performed by "professionals" at the stereo/accessory shops. I'll bet two-thirds of those "professional installers" never even picked up a solder iron, let alone use one in their work. there is no other correct way to perform wiring modifications on your vehicle, unless you don't mind those aforementioned failures.
And after all that drivel, I'd suggest any good chassis ground. Provided your grounding jumpers and straps are all intact, it just won't matter whether the connection is inside the vehicle or outside. There is a very good metal bracket on the lower right side of the dash panel that is attached to the A pillar. There are many other good places to get a reliable ground in the vehicle.

i suppose the back yard ground would work - considering the car is lifeless in the garage anyways...
just thought i'd get an opinion since grounds seem to be such a sensitive issue and i STILL have the same ground problems i had before. but that's cuz i left it alone for the past month or longer and am back to working on it again. but the light at the end of the tunnel is that i'm going to try a few more things and if none of it pans out, in to the shop it will go... one day i will be driving that new eng and trans again...
