Headlight Motor Removal

My daughter's '87 Firebird has a case of lazy eye. One headlight pops right up and the other does not. With that being said.......

I bought a headlight motor repair kit from TDS.

How hard is it to pull out a headlight motor? Any helpful hints, insights or techniques?

Thanks!

Steve

Yeah definitely buy one of those box end wrenches with the ratchet on the enclosed end. I'm pretty sure it was a 10mm.

Take out the headlight,
Take off the outer shroud thing. Need torx bit for that.
Remove the three screws holding the motor in place. Then the nut holding the control arm mechanism and wallah.

I had problems with my motors so i ended up when it was all said and done removing and replacing them about 5 times each side.lol. I think in the end i could full dissassemble one in like 5 minutes.

Thanks....

The headlight repair kit from TDS had the instructions in it, and it was pretty much straight forward, just like you said.

Mechanically it works, but apparently the motor is toast as well, because it does NOT work. I cannot recall seeing it work, ever.

Always something.
