checking maf

Does anybody know how to check a bosch maf from an 87 TA.
It is a 305 TPI. I keep getting codes 22 & 33 together. I think maybe my maf might be bad.

Read the output voltage with a meter:

Back-probe the MAF connector, start the engine, and read the voltage.

Incidentally, I provided instruction how to check the MAF, since that is what you asked.

Your root problem, however, is likely going to be found to be the TPS setting that is too low, not the MAF. You can use that same meter to set the TPS properly.

Still, it never hurts to know how to test a MAF with only a meter.

Thanks for the info. I could use an opinion about the tps thing. After it sets a code if it sits until cold, I clear the codes, everthing is fine, I drive like 10 miles to a car show. When I get back in to go home the code sets, first just a 22 then if I drive with the 22 next a 33 & the car sputters & has no power (limp home mode I presume). If I check tps operation with a volt meter it shows OK but still the problem persists.
If the base idle is off would this be the problem?
This problem is very frustrating. I would just like to be able to drive my car again.

Thanks for the help. It turned out to be a couple bad pins in the ECM connector & a frayed TPS wire. I had to pay the man $275.00 to diagnose it, but the car runs fine now so it was worth it. Thanks again!!!

Back to a low voltage signal from the TPS. That's usually the cause.
