Fog Lights not working, fog light coil?
After much searching I still have not found any new ideas for my problem. I have a '90 GTA and when I bought the car the fog lights worked. Then, my tumbler crapped out and since replacing it the fog lights have not worked. I tried a different switch, new relay, new fuse, tested the wires going to the relay according to the factory service manual I have and all the voltages check out. In the s.matic for the fog lights it talks about a fog light coil but I can not locate it and it does not give a location for it. Is this a technical term for something else? As of now my fog lights still dont work. Once it cools down I am going to test the wiring to the switch.
The lights connect via a relay. First make sure that connecting 12 volts to the lights actually lights them up. Then work backwards. The wiring from the lights goes through the firewall connector straight to the relay block. Try putting 12 volts there and see if the lights light. If they do then try putting 12 volts as input to the relay and see if they work. Then to the switch and then to the fuse panel.

I have just finished reviewing the fog light schematics for the 1990 firebirds and there is no mention of a fog light coil in them. There is however mention of a foglight circuit breaker which is located on the fuse block and is one of those metal 35 AMP units. BTW, the manual that I am looking at is a GM service manual and not a haynes or chilton.

Trickster is right, I reviewed my manual again and the page must have flipped over to the diagnosis for the headlights. I must say thank you because I kept thinking the fuse and circuit breaker was the same thing but they are not. I will check the breaker tomorrow, hopefully that is all it is. I guess my question at the moment is would I still get power to the relay if the breaker was bad?

I checked the circuit breakers on the fuse panel and they are both 20 amp. I looked at the other panel attached the console under the dash and could not find anything looking look or labeled as a 35 amp circuit breaker. Can anyone tell me where the circuit breakers are for the fog lights?

I finally figured it out. All this time *bangs head in to desk* it has been the bulbs. They were simply out. It had never crossed my mind to check them since they were both working before I had all the problems with the VATS. Oh well, my car education continues. Thank you to everone for all their help.
