power distributiuon junction box c238

The C238 j-box, the one inside the d/s kick panel, has 3 rails in it.

One of the rails is dead, I found this out while repairing my rear defogger, the connector w/ the orange and black wire was on the dead rail. Will it hurt anything if I move the wire to the other side of the plug to use the good rail?

I also found another heavy orange wire with a black stripe, also connected to the dead rail I followed it back to a relay, does anybody know what this is? This same connector also has a smaller orange wire on it, this side is on the good rail.

there does not seem to be anything in the car that is not working, but I do not want problems later.

in the pic the middle rail is the dead one.

Hello John,
That picture looks like one I have posted numerous times. That is the power junction box for the power window, door locks, power seats, defoger, & mirrors as you can see from the description on the schematic. If you have a dead rail there, it is because the power source for it is not connected at the source. Both of the power sources come from the fuse panel, compare the schematic with the drawing of the fuse panel that I posted for you and you should be okay. That relay that you mentioned is probably the one for the power door locks. If this is for the 86 camaro then the relay should be located behind that same kick panel and in a recess below the hood release cable. It grounds to the car frame there.

Car doesn't have power locks or mirrors, just the windows.

That is your pic, thank you for posting it, sorry i didn't mention it before.

If you posted a pic of a fuse panel, it didn't upload.

Thanks, John

John,
Go back to this link from your previous post about the fuse panel.

I found it, I can be a little thick-headed at times, thanks.

If I understand you correctly, then I should check all the connections on the back of the fuse panel. I will do that tommorow.

Thank you again
