Question about fusible links at battery
My fans stop working awhile back and I traced the problem to the one fusible link at the battery, and replaced it with a 25 amp blade fuse. Fans work now.
However the car has been running odd/stalling sometimes after it reaches a certain temp and I'm very suspicious of the other fusible link coming off the battery(dosent look to good).
What I don't understand though is that this fusible link runs right into a small weatherproof blade fuse then into the harness. I understand that this goes to the ECM/fuel pump.
Why is there a fusible link in front of a 20 amp blade fuse?
I was going to replace the fuse link with a blade fuse like the other one but it seems silly to have two fuses back to back.
Can I just cut out the link and splice the wire straight to the battery since it already has a 20amp blade fuse on it..or should I put a blade fuse in to replace the fusible link just to be safe. Kind of a dumb question I know...but I searched and didn't find a real reason why its set-up like this.
