bare minimum

what are the bare minimum wires i need hooked up to the motor from the ecm?

sorry dont like to sound so clueless but looking at these looms is frightening for a bigginer looking at an engine swap where he is doing away with everything the car doesnt need to run

so any help would be appreciated

its an 86 trans am
had the lg4
l69 going in
with only what it needs

1986 Wiring diagrams. Found this link in the tech articles section: https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/

I dont know if the L69 would be the best swap. They discontined it in 86 b/c they had strange problems with it. Something with fuel boiling? If you have an 86 car with a L69 it is very rare (only 74 produced). 85 isn't rare.

I would think things would be very similar in the wiring between the LG4 and L69 but i'm not an expert on the L69.

Also, put your post up on the engine swap forum. Those guys may have some info on these engines.

motor is out of a 84? z28
its already been pulled painted and ready to be bolted up
just cleaning things up painting tranny driveshaft rearend and suspension components
then undercoating and tis time to drop it in

the donor car's man 5 spd went out and was a general pos
thus the swap a free motor to get an old friend running for the first time this decade

my bad. the L69 was produced from 82-86. i was thinking wrong(only 85-86).
