How many wires?
hey whats up everyone
i have an 86 305 bird stock with a quadra jet carb all the usual crap ...but i was talkin with a mechanic down the street whose into firebirds too and he said if i had the vacuum advance only distributor that that was the best one to have...of course i ask how do i tell that one apart from the one that's tied into the computer...he said look at how many wires are on the plug into the distributor..if theres three ,you have the good one, if 4 then you have the one tied into the computer...well long story short i took a look at mine, and there are only two actual wires that come from the firewall or wherever, one's white, one's thicker and red..they go to the side of the distributor cap.....but next to them is another plug which has 3 wires going into the actual bottom front of the distributor itself.....bottom line...is it safe to assume i have the good distributor or what?im new to alot of this so im pretty clueless..thanks to anybody that takes time to answer a pretty dumb question...
