90-92 Camaro Tach?
Did anybody ever figure out what exactly needs to be dome to correct our tachs when the go bad?
Saw where the capacitor fix doesn't do the trick on these.
Mone is getting worse.
Says the old 305 is shifting around 6800 now.
Yea, right!
Will probably be higher in a few weeks.

Hey "fireball451", I/m wondering the same thing. My 91 Z28 tach is dead also. When I bought the car the tach would move when I turn the car on but only to 1000rpm and not move. Then I rebuilt the motor and now it doesn't move at all. I read the same threads about the resistor and all, but looking for a permanent fix other than an aftermarket tach. Someone out there knows something.

Dog gone cool camaro, nice rides!!!
Love the black one!
Used to have a black '91 Z that I bought new.
There has to be a fix out there.
Got a friend whose '91 idles around 3500!
Uh, yeah!

iono about the tach
but i know for the guys with the "jumping" tach
sometimes its just the cap and rotor getting burnt or some heavy buildup.
happened to me, and it drove perfectly the whole time for about 3 months. then it finally started surging a little, so I did a tuneup. My cap and rotor were pitiful. it fixed the tach & slight surge

Mine just sat all the way to the right of the dash forever so I thought it was bad and put a new one in. Since I have disconnected the wire to the coil, the tach starts at 0 and as the car runs its progresses very slowly all the way to the spot it used to sit in. It is kinda like a timer. I thought it might be a bad ground.

yeah i had a 1990 RS. The RPM Gauge would jump up tp where 8 or 9 would be when i revved it. never figured out what it was. also everytime the radio was on in that car you could hear whining through the speakers from the engine.
