Cleaning Window Switches
I'd like to disassemble and clean the window switches on my '92 Formula. I can see that the very top part of the switch should be abe to be removed, but can't figure out how to do it without breaking anything. Can someone describe the process to me? Many thanks in advance.

i have a window switch laying around and i see what you mean.
I took the top off, but i dont think its going to do you any good. All thats underneath the top is a spring. All the internals seemed to be riveted or something on the bottom.
If you want to see for yourself. Lay the switch on its side so its an inch across, not a 1/2".
Those plastic tabs on the sides, the ones that are attached to the top part. Dont try to lift them outward, i think they will break.
Instead the tabs on the bottom part, that come up the sides or the bottom part, move those outward toward the other tabs(the other tabs are the one that hold the switch in place in the console) using a really small flat head screwdriver. Do one at a time and try to keep it out of lock and then do the other one. If the top doesn't come off then do the two on the opposite side.
So, it doesn't seem like you can get to the internals without destroying the switch. You can clean the connectors. If you're connectors are dirty, it could cause electrical problems. Clean em with sandpaper or just scratch them up a little bit with a utility knife. If you still want to try to clean the internals, spray a little carb cleaner in em from the sides.
Carb cleaner does wonders for cleaning any grime/grease/dirt, maybe it will help.
Hope this helps!
