****in power window motors..

Ok so now that it took me 24 hours to get 1 power window motor done...there is a small, snail looking spring on the bracket that pushes up the windows..is there a clip that holds that on? because if i close my door it falls off?...or maybe im not pushing it far enough on its mounting thing..?

help before i blow my car up

You aren't by any chance talking about the heavy spring that goes on this piece are you? If you are, then you might as well go ahead and shoot yourself or blow up the car. It means that you need to get yourself another window regulator. Either you or someone else removed the motor from the regulator and didn't secure the crossmember allowing the spring to fly off.

the window goes up and down fine...but this spring keeps firing off when i close the door...like like its used to prevent the motor from working too hard when it pushes the window back up

That spring is under tension when it is on there and helps to keep pressure on the window to keep it up. Since it has fallen off there is no way you are going to rewind that spring to its original tension. If you leave it off the window will not stay up tight and will be loose.

i've been driving around with the spring off for like 2 months now, and my window's been fine. it's goes up and down and works just fine. but seeing as it is a pretty large spring, and it was originally there, i'm assuming what i'm doing is not very smart, and i plan of replacing it as soon as i have time in the near future.

yea o well..ill just leave it off for now. I think i may take the car to gm and get them to do these motors. Or ill drill through the steel to the rivets on the window motor so i dont have to remove the entire assembly..

i managed to remove just the motors because I couldn't get the whole assembly out of the door. I took the whole thing off, and drilled the rivets out while it was still inside the door, just move it to where the big whole is cut and drill it there, then slide the motor out, then you can put the new onw in and rivet or bolt it in and put everything right back. Just make sure you secure the spring somehow on the other side so you don't have the same problem again. I remembered about the spring right after it shot off and almost smashed my window, haha.
