seat belt light
my seatbelt light and chime stop working awhile back, i took the cluster out and change the blub, but it still not working, any help would be appreciated, thank you.
There is an "Audio Alarm" module in the Convenience Center that contains both the chime and a relay to operate the warning lamp.

The larger blue rectangular module is the Audio Alarm. Make sure iot is seated in the socket. You can test the black wire in the socket to make sure it is grounded when the seat belt is disconnected. There is a leaf switch in the belt receiver that should close and ground that circuit when the belt is not connected.
If the alarm works to indicate the key is in the ignition when the door is opened, the audio part is working, and the seat belt portion of the circuit is suspect.

thanks vader, my chime do work when the key is in the inigtion, so i guess it is the seatbelt part thats having the problem. sorry i am new to this, so where would i start, you think is the seatbelt buckle itself. or should i be looking for something else, thanks.
My first suspicion would be the contact in the belt buckle, or the grounding of the buckle. You can test this by grounding the black wire at the seat belt buckle with the ignition on. The chime should operate in that state, at least for a short time. The lamp should remain on indefinitely, however.

hi vader, i check the seatbelt receive end, is there suppose to be a wire or anything running into the buckle from the carpet? just wondering how they get the signal that it is not buckle. by the way, if my door is open and the key is in, the chime will sound, just no chime or warning light for the seatbelt. thanks again

Merry Christmas to all. For those who don't celebrate, have a nice day.
I do believe RamJet is correct. The older systems have a cam-actuated switch in the retractor. The newer systems have contacts in the receiver end buckle, and require that something is actually plugged in there to open the contacts.
If you observe the clear plastic cover on the end of the retractor bobbin, you should see the contacts. By simply groundnig the wire to the retractor, the lamp should turn on. This should help determine whether the problem is in the retractor or the wiring/module part of the circuit. If grounding the wire doesn't turn on the lamp, don't bother opening the retractor. If it does operate teh lamp, you need to repair the switch. The cover can be removed carefully and glued back in position. It's been a while since I've played with this type, by I know it can be done.
