Headlight Problem

When I flip the headlight switch on my 86' Firebird to the on position the head lights turn on a come up but when i flip it off the interior lights go out but the headlights stay up and the lights stay on. Then after that I would take the headlight fuse out of the fuse box and they would turn off but not go down. Then with the headlight switch off and i put the fuse back in the lights go down. Can anyone help me with this problem?

About the only possibility I can conceive given your description of the symptoms is that the switch itself is failing. A failing isolation relay might keep teh headlight doors elevated, but would not keep the lamps lit.
