test rear hatch motor

how do you test the rear hatch motor to see if its good or not?

just thought maybe it wasn't getting the signal to pop up or down like it should. meaning it is working.... just some wiring issues

cheers

There is not much to explain. The hatch pull-down motor gets its power from the LID fuse in the fuse panel via the red/white wire. The motor will run forward when the hatch release switch is in the "latched" position (left of the motor in the diagram) and the motor has not completely pulled the hatch down (right of the motor). Once the hatch is completely pulled down, the switch on the right side of the motor toggles, stopping the motor. If the hatch release solenoid or key are used to open the hatch during the closing cycle, the switch on the left of the motor will toggle and stop the motor.
