I have no resistor wire in the circuit, I have the factory srvc. manl. also. It shows no resistor. If the alt. is charging and the choke is working how can this light be staying on? It's driving me nuts. The diagram you sent is my present system minus the resistor. I have no idea where to start looking based on the above. I hope it may be the '' cant see the forest for the tree'' deal. If you have any more suggestions please feel free to respond, at this point I am at a standstill.

thanks

You got to love TSB's. Found you this:

Choke Light - Stays On

Number: 83-I-44

Section: VIm & VII

Date: Feb., 1983
Subject: CHOKE LIGHT STAYS ON - 1982 AND 1983 CELEBRITYS, CAMAROS, CAVALIERS AND CITATIONS

TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS

Conditions may arise where the choke light stays on for some period of time after the engine is started. Engines affected are:

1982 1983

Celebrity LE2, LW9 & LR8 With UF7 LE3 & LW9
Camaro LC1, LG4 & LQ8 LC1, LG4 & LQ8
Cavalier All Canada MN4
Citation LE2 With U22, LH7 With LE2 With U22
U21 & LW9 LH7 With U21
& LW9

Other than the causes indicated in the service manuals for the light staying on, this condition can be the result of a choke heater relay that has too low of a drop out voltage causing the relay to stay energized and the light to stay on. Replacement of the relay with the service part will correct the condition.
