Amp. + drained battery then jumping=burnt up alternator?
Well I installed a 1000W amp and had the radio on with car off and I drained the battery. Duh that was stupid! But anyway I jumped the car and it was fine, it charged up perfectly but tonight I came home I heard the alternator humming and the voltage kept dropping while I was driving and when I turned off the car and tried to restart it all I heard was the clicking. I also notice the little bolts going into the battery were loose and stripped so I replaced them. Could the lose battery connection and dead battery cause some sort of damage to the alternator.
kind of doubt it.
Try swapping out batteries with another car, just in case you have a bad battery.
If your alternator is dead, make sure when you get a new one with the highest rated one you can since your running a big amp.

First make sure you have clean, tight battery cable connections.
Also, check the wire terminal near the battery. It's attached to the core support next to the radiator. One of your pos. battery cables go to it and then supplies power to your car. Mine was loose the other weak and caused problems similar to yours.

Hey, thanks for the help, I was thinking it might be the battery too, so I will replace that and see what I get.

Check/repair all your connections is a good idea. But one thing to keep in mind is a car's alternator is intended to maintain a full charge on a good battery not recharge one.Best thing to do with a discharged battery is to charge it with a battery charger(some parts places like Autozone will check/recharge your battery for free). You can burn up a regulator trying to fully charge a dead battery.
