idle part 2

i wrote in a while ago that my idle was messed up, replace the tps sensor and fixed it for a while, about two to three weeks later it starts acting up on me again. took it to a place and they cleaned up the throttle body and ran injector cleaner threw it and it helped a little, my diagnostic port works on and off so it was hard for them to diagnose it without it working good. they told me to try and trace my steps like making sure my intake is nice and tight and try putting the old sensor back on there. i put the old one back on and it pulled up code 22 again but when i put the new one on the engine light isnt on but if i flash the codes it is stored, pretty much just screwed it up again. code 22 is a low voltage to the tps, any suggestions. this is what im going to try and have tried: sensor should have 1.25 volts at idle, only getting .322 volts, going to try and see what the voltage is coming out of the computer. what should i do, try running a new wire to the sensor.

If thsi is happening to your '87 T/A, something is wrong. Your '87 T/A would have either a TPI system (about 75% or them or more) or an E4ME QuadraJet (the remainder). With the TPI, the TPS voltage between the 'A' and 'B' terminals (black and blue wires, respectively) should be 0.54VDC, ± 0.07V With the Quadrajet, the TPS voltage should be 0.51VDC, ± 0.050V. In either case, 1.25V is completely wrong, and will set an error code.

Between the black and gray wires, you should read 5.0VDC whenever the ignition is on. If that reference voltage is low, you may have an ECM grounding problem or internal ECM problem. Since the ECM is reporting error codes, the 5V logic supply is probably working, so I would suspect a wiring problem if the reference voltage is low.

Try setting the TPS at 0.54V and see what happens.

but wouldnt that make the idle higher if you set it up to .54v, it reads .32 now, i got that 1.25 off michal, dont know where they got that but started thinking it would idle like crazy if that was true
