Igntion, tach bouncing!
Hi, I have a hi-6s ignition and in order to mount it inside the car I had to extend about 6 wires.
Now sometimes I have a bounce in the tach and the box goes in and out. When I put it in reverse, and if I give it gas it stabilizes.
Also it does not jump when its warmed up, and when the car is idling normaly.
Only jumps (sometimes) when i shift gears.
It seemed to have gotten better.
What I did is, I got the GM harness and it just was not long enough for me to mount it inside.
So I took the extra plugg in connectors and extended them about half a foot.
I used the same/gauge wire. I soldered them all the way through and taped them up heavy with electrical tape.
Now I have a bit of jump here and there, what do you think this could be.
A short comes to mind.
I did check the wires over and over again and everything seems fine.
Usually I can switch to my normal ignition very quickly and it seems to get rid of that jump.
Do you think this is the box or wires themselves, and what would be a good way to solder them so I can extend them???
Or is the box just amplifying my problem with ignition!? Because my car does run a bit sluggish at certain RPM's.
