starter/alternator/battery wiring
So about 2 weeks ago, i bought a 140 amp 1 wire alternator to replace the 3 wire alternator that i had. and i've just gotten around to deciding to hook everything back up.
now for the problem
the old alternator had a small wire goin to the battery and a big wire goin to the starter. now from what i've read on the forums, the 1 wire alternators should just have the 1 wire going to the battery (correct?).. so if this is the case. what do i hook the starter up to? do i still hook it up to the alternator (making it a 2 wire) or do i hook the starter up to the battery?
also, when i mounted the althernator i noticed that the fuel hose running from my fuel pump to the dual feed for my carbs runs right by the alternator hookup. i'm talkin like maybe an inch away. I just want to make sure this is safe as i'm somewhat concened that if something sparked on the alternator then its gonna somehow light up the fuel causing me to go boom. which isn't good.
thanks
