Starter solenoid switch wiring, need fuse/resistor?
Hey everyone, I will be wiring a push button switch to send power to my starter's solenoid to start the car from run, and was wondering what the circuit will have to have. Actually, Im doing this to my girlfriend's 92 Dodge Stealth first.
Something is screwy with her ignition not sending power to the starter, so my plan was to run a wire from the starter solenoid to this push button switch, and get 12V from the fusebox in her car to feed the switch. It will work right?
So, do i need a fuse? I assume I should, what kind?
Do i need any sort of resister? I dont think i do.
And for my Camaro, it will be easier, i already know the way of bypassing the ignition switch above the steering shaft with a button switch, no prob.
Well, thanks for any info, advice, whatever.

Im still not sure, I know that many of the people here easily would know this, how I should wire this starter switch with fuses and such. Or, I wonder, if the 12V source from a fuse box is already protected with fuses? I would be taking it from some kind of acc. power sourse spot. It's on a 92 Dodge Stealth, but I'm also going to do the same thing to my 86 Camaro.
If anyone could give me a lil response it would be good, thanks.

I don't think it's a "stupid question", but the answer is fairly obvious. Since you really should have a factory schematic or point-to-point wiring diagram before you begin, all you need to do is replace the start contacts of the ignition switch with your push button. The diagrams will be necessary to insure you tap the correct wires.
The IGN circuit is already protected by a fusible link. This may help:
