I pulled the 305 engine out of my 87 Trans Am and put in a 350. The car was carbed and I replaced it with a non computerized carb. I took out the ecm since the engine doesn't need it. Does the ecm run the speedometer? I can't figure out why the speedometer doesn't work.
Thanks,
Matt

You may have inadvertantly pulled the VSS buffer box (little yellow box under the pass side dash) as well.

I did plug the little yellow box back in but the speedometer still doesn't work. I'd do some research but the search function is down. AARRGG!!

Was there anything else that needs to be plugged in in the area of the VSS buffer box, because there are a lot of empty plugs there.

The buffer box shoulld be able to work by it's lonesome.
It obviously needs power and the input from the VSS on the trans.
Buffer box should look like sew..

I see that it has two plugs going to it. I think I have one thing plugged in. Thanks for your help.
