Scary isn't it?I did the same thing on my car, except i went from 2.8 multi port to a 350 carb.I found that the two harnesses really only share a couple of common grounding points at the back of the motor.I unplugged the ecm from under the pass.side dash and fed the harness through the fender and into the engine compartment on the passenger side.My car had a mess of relays over the brake booster,i unhooked them and fed the harness they were connected to around the back of the block. This is where it is hooked in to the grounds at the back of the motor.Make sure you leave the grounds for the main harness.Next,i went to the power junction block beside the battery on the passenger side and unhooked everything, leaving the alternator wire and the one from the battery.you'll also have to take the fuseable links on the passenger side inner fender. If you run a electric fan or fans, you will want to re-use one of the fuseable links and the relay over the junction block to re-wire it up.I wired my fan relay to a toggle switch for now but plan to use a thermal switch when i get to it .It helps to take some of the loom off so you can see the wires.I think the alternator plug/wires run through this loom for a ways, pull it out and re-route them.At this point, the harness came out in one big piece. Now i have to say that my car was badly hacked up by a previous owner, and the wireing was already compromised, the car already had mechanical gauges for oil and temp,so i'm not sure about these wires, but this should give you enough of a idea to get you started.I used a test light alot to make sure some wires were dead with the key on and off.Your car might not be wired like mine, but some of it should be simular enough for this to be of some help.I know this sure cleaned up my engine bay and got rid of about 10 pounds of junk that was dead weight anyway.Hope this helps alittle.I should also mention that if you have an automatic trans,it won't lock up the converter without the computer, there are kits available to run 700r4's without a computer. You gotta run a non-computer HEI distributor also without the computer.

The box itself can be used with the vacuum advance HEI you'll be using....not plug and play like with the TPI....u will hard wire it into the distributor ditching the module and condenser.....go to MSD's website to get the diagram you need.....piece 'o cake
