I have a 89 RS camaro 305 TBI that I stored for the winter. I did all the winterizing that should be done and the other day I tried to start it and nothing happened. Not even a click. All electrical componants work except for the starter. the battery seems fine. The motor would not even turn over? Should I install a new starter and call it a day or what do you think? I need to get my car back home asap. What should I be looking for? I would hate to call a garage and have them take care of some thing minor I could have done my self.

 

Whats your battery voltage? Your battery is probably dead from the winter.

 

No, The voltage is fine, I thought the same thing at first so I tried to give it a jump and still nothing. Any other Ideas? I will be going to Have anothor look at it next week wednesday or thursday and any suggestions would help.

 

Is it VATS equipped? What you describe is consistent with that system failing. PM me & I'll be happy to relate my VATS experience, and solution.

I got it started. The starter was just "stuck". I tapped it a couple times and it fired right up. I started a couple times after that and no problems. I will probably be replacing the starter anyway. Thanks for your responses.
