Fuel Pump Fuse on '91

I'm trying to replace my fuel filter on my '91 firebird and I want to release the pressure from the fuel system. Problem is that I can't find the fuse for the fuel pump. The only fuses I found are the block that is under the dash on the drivers side and there is no FP fuse in it. In my owners manual it lists the funct of each fuse and there is one for fuel injector but none of them are for fuel pump. Anyone know where this is?

The fuel pump is not powered when the key is off. Removing power from the fuel pump won't relieve pressure.

If you want to relieve fuel pressure then take the gas cap off and if the engine has a shrader valve to check fuel pressure then press that in but have a rag handy for any little gas that comes out.

Another thing you could do is let the car sit for a day or two and then take the cap off. Should have no pressure then.

If you want more info ask in the TBI forum because i'm not a TBI expert.

no book in front of me, but if the TBI is wired up like the TPI, you don't want to remove that fuse anyways, because it is also power to the ECM. you can, but why dump memory in it? get under the car behind the rear seat and forward of the fuel tank and disconnect the fuel pump connector and start the car til it runs out of gas.

I think I'll try that. I didn't think of disconneting the fuel pump, I just figured it would have its own fuse.

where I work we change at least 3 or 4 fuel filters a day, and basically, you just open the gas tank (relieve backpressure), make sure the key is out of the ignition to prevent the pump from coming on, and crack the line fittings on the sides of the filter...just don't have your face 6 inches away from the filter, as fuel will spray out, but not a whole ton. We're not talking about diesel line pressure here people, just 30, maybe up to 50 psi, and it relieves really easily and quickly.
...just use your brain and don't be really close to it

There is no fuel pump fuse in the later model third gens, this was only in the early models up to about 85 or 86.
