Digital Dash

my speedometer on my dash just reads zero when i drive, and its still in kilometers. but when i knock on it it starts to show the numbers and then goes back to zero. everything else on the dash works. what may be wrong and can i fix this problem myself?

The read out plugs into the cct card inside the dash at the top of the display. It maybe worth your while to pull the cluster out and make sure the dispay is plugged in properly. The fact that you can get it to display by tapping it tells me you have a loose / broken connection somewhere.

it might be somewhat corroded or something. As far as I know you can switch from miles to kilometers using the lower button next to the odo/trip display.

if you re-connect the display plug a couple of times, the dust might be scraped off. Just like Aussie says.
