It could be as simple as a dirty contact switch in the driver's side female seat belt receptacle.Or the chime/seat belt minder control module,located in the convience center - to the left of the steering column behind the ALDL coneector,could be loose in it's base.

Your light turns on??? i havent seen that light turn on in my 83 since i bought it... not to mention i dont hear a chime....
