I just picked up an 82 camaro z28 Indy pace car. Very nice but I tried the horn and it didn't work. I pulled of the center cap and all there is showing is a yellow wire that is taped.

Can someone tell me what piece i am missing so I can pick it up? Also does anyone have a diagram or schematic on how the piece goes back in?

Any help would be apreciated.

Thanks...

Congrats on a nice find. The yellow wire should have a spade terminal on it.It attaches to the metal ring on the back of the center cover. When you push on the wheel center cover it grounds the circuit for the horn(s) to work.

Thank You...so I basically just need to hook the wire to the cover? It seems like maybe there should be something in the middle but I will look again.

Thanks!

The metal ring that attaches the center cover to the steering wheel has a male spade connector for the wire to connect to(Unless it has broken off).

Thanks....that I remember is there (the little metal tag). I am not near the car now but I will check it tomorrow. Is there supposed to be some "push" to the big button? What I mean is when I press it in, it doesn't feel like it moves much. When I took the big center button off and looked it looks like (2) pieces of round metal that is divided by some thick tape. Not sure if that was what it was from the factory or if someone screwed with it.

Can you tell me if that sounds right?

Thanks for your replies......
