What are these wires?
Anyone know what these wires are? I have an 86 Z28 5 speed 305 carbed. I just got it and haven't had a chance to trace the interior wire yet and was wondering if it could possibly be the rear window brake light since it is out. I kinda doubt it and figure it's probably and ad on stereo wire or something once used but not anymore. Also this wire under the dash? It just had a FireBird steering column put in used off Ebay. Not sure if this plug is used. Any help will be appreciated. Also the wipers only work when using the wash and wipe part of the switch, I think there is a problem with the wiper switch and nothing to do with these wires. Thanks

What's a henway? About 5 pounds
Hadn't heard that in a long time. Didn't come to me 'til RCAR7395 asked the question.

If your car still has the driving/fog lights check to see if they work. Mine didn't when I first got the car and there were two wires not connected under the dash, one was red with a female connector and the other was red with a male connector. I plugged them together and my driving lights started working. The wire you show (see picture below yellow arrow) is coming from under the dash, there should be another red wire with a gray female connector somewhere close to the floor board (see picture below white arrow). This wire goes to the fog lights. hope this helps.

The wire by your door panel looks like a power wire for a old amp or something. Make sure its not still hooked up to the batt. If thats live then you could encounter some bad stuff if it makes contact.

When I first got mine the guy told me the battery was bad and wouldn't stay charged but it had an aftermarket Bulldog alarm on it. I noticed if I disconnected the battery every day it would still be charged enough the next day to crank it. I said the heck with it and started pulling a "rat nest" of wires and such from under the dash that was part of the alarm. After I done this I tried leaving the battery connected and it stayed charged. That was a year ago and I'm still driving it daily and still using the same battery with no problems. Some one also had a wad of wires going to the rear for amps or whatever and at some point one of the wires had gotten so hot it melted a line in the carpet at the passenger rear seat!

Thanks for all the help guys, I'll trace the wire and check it out. I think its for an old amp or speakers. It doesn't match the wire with the connector under the dash and there are no fog lights and all lights work. And have You seen the price of a new Henway? You know It never hurts to have an extra one laying around. LOL !
Ok, I just pulled it. It was not connected at either end and was about 2 ft long. I just pulled it till it came out. Stereo amp or something more than likely. And the connector under the dash was probably for fog lights as Xandersdad said earlier. It is a Z 28 though it doesn't have fog lights but probably was an option. Thanks all !
