digital dashboard swap
I have done a search on this topic in this forum and haven't really found a
clear cut answer.
I have a 1992 formula with stock mechanical gauges and was wondering if
I could swap that with a digital dash cluster from a gta?
Do I need to switch harness, or will it just plug right in and work?
Thanks for the info.

well i'm planning to do the same with an '87 T/A digital dash in my '85 T/A.
From what I understood, the digital dash uses more sensors than the analog one does, so you'd need to swap out the wireing harnesses and replace some sensors.
Besides that my 85 T/A has a cable driven speedo, so I'd need to swap the VSS unit as well. Not really an issue with your post-85 electronic one.

Replacing a digital dash into an analog dash car is ALOT of work. All of the wiring harnesses are different except the computer to engine harness. The HVAC controls are totally different and require a special metal bracket to mount them to. In short the expense far exceeds the rewards. It would be a whole lot cheaper to buy a car with a digital dash and just restore it.

The detail is immense. It is a pretty serious undertaking. If you are serious about doing this I'll put you in touch with a friend of mine here in town that did the conversion. Although the results were good, he wouldn't have done it if he knew how difficult it would be. P.M. me if you want his info

I sent you a PM with guys phone # you needed to get in touch with. Did you not get it? Let me know and I'll send one again, I just don't want to list his phone # in a open forum.
