Fun with electric Fans....

Ok so I bought a new Fan relay since it seemed like mine was bad...I installed it and to my liking the fan worked w/o the AC being on...so I shut it down to go inside and the fan stayed on for about five minutes until I unplugged the relay......I plugged the relay back in and the fan didnt come one so I started it back up and nothing, the fan is back to not running w/o the AC being on...any ideas?

My 86 IROC was having a similar problem, I replaced fan motor, relay then the sensor in the passenger head and it worked. I also had a bad plug by the heater box that was burnt to a crisp and getting a bad connection due to the PO twisting the wires from the relay together so the fan would run constantly. I couldn't find the right plug so 4 splice connectors worked good as well. then my fan worked like it supposed to.
