Is the 'check engine' (or SES) light comming on with the ignition on ?
Have you tried to pull any codes ?
Does it crank but not start ?
If it's on, the ECM fuse is fine. If not, check the fuse in the weatherpac right off the pos. battery cable .
If you're lucky it threw a code.
If it's cranking but no spark, I have the ign module in the dist. checked/changed. They have been known to die at a moments notice (well, at least mine have anyways).
Just a few guesses.

well, here's what happened, we discovered a loose wire, one of the 3 red ones going into the starter with fuseable links on them. we fixed it, while i was down there noticed i think its a fan switch was unplugged (fan hasnt been working). so when i hit accessories and everything came on again i heard a buzzing noise then a pop and smoke from wires above the fuse box, not sure if plugging in the 'fan switch' did it or from putting the starter wire back

here's a rather upsetting update.
car ran fine for 2 days. today coming home from work, car turns off, same as before. saw a little more smoke come from above the fuse box at the same time. get it towed back to the house. no fuses in the fuse box burned. however, the fuse we put in the newly wired fuseable link blew, we put a 30 in there.
what could this be?
anyone know where all three fuseable links off the start go to? and which one of those would cause the car to not start? the only power i get anything from is interior dome lights, parking lights.
also, the plastic part of the connector to the fan switch plug broke, so we left the connector hanging there, could the metal part of it touching against the chassis have caused a problem?

Check for a loose conection at a junction on the positive side. Similar thing happened to our dump truck, from the road vibrations the nut at the junction backed off and caused the truck to shut off at random times with no power at all.

We seemed to have fixed her. Required a 14g fuseable link, then the fuel pump wouldnt run, bad fuse (by battery). Also found a few wires in the harness above the fuse box who had melted, and two actually fused together, one of which being a larger orange one, probably causing half the problems. She ran today with no problems.
