hooking up stock tach to MSD box

I can not for the life of me find the green wire that usually goes into the one side if the dist for the tachometer.my question is that the stock tachometer on 82-84 cars has some terminals on the back of them.can I just simply hook one of these into the MSD 6AL box and be good to go or what??

green wire into the distributor? no it's a white wire if it's factory tach lead still. autometer aftermarket tachs use a green wire, GM used a white one.

I'm sorry I screwed up. last year I had an Autometer tach in the car and that was the green wire. I pretty much went back to all stock b/c everything just looks so much cleaner.I also put in a diff int and engine wiring harness's in the car from another car b/c the old harness's were all pretty hacked up. the white wire that goes into the left or drivers side of the dist cap for the tach, that is the wire I can not find. I am just wondering if I can run a wire directly from the stock tach to the MSD box from one of the terminals on the back of the tach??
