Convertile hatch release probs with tranny swap
I did post this on the convertible board but I thought you guys might be more help.
1988 IROC convertible, swapped out 305 auto for a new ZZ4 and T-5.
As suggested on an engine swap board I spliced together the purple and yellow neutral lockout wires so that I could start my car.
My problem is that now I can pop my convertible top cover whenever I want, accidentally hitting that switch at speed could be disasterous.
I would like to get the switch back to being disabled when the parking brake is not applied, the same way that the hatch release lockout works in manual equipped coupes.
Obviously this was an auto equipped vehicle and the lockout was triggered by the shifter, unfortunately I trashed all the old parts a long time ago, not thinking I would ever need the parts for rewiring for refference.
Anybody out there have a workaround for my problem?
And please remember you are talking to someone that is near retarded when it comes to electronics.
Thanks very much if you can help.

The tonneau release has a relay at the base of the parking brake. The tonneau is supposed to pop with the switch if the ignition is off, or with the ignition on the parking brake must be applied at least a few clicks. The relay has to be grounded out for the switch to open the tonneau. You see that yellow wire from the relay in your diagram? That yellow wire becomes a tan with white stripe wire that is supposed to be hooked to a terminal on the parking brake so it is grounded when you pull up on the parking brake a couple of clicks. Since you're converting from an auto to manual, it appears that the tan/white wire from the auto gear selector needs to be relocated to that ground tab on the parking brake.
