Well guys I just found a 89 Camaro RS I would really like to pick up but getting it home is kind of a issue as there is no key and I would prefer to be able to drive it home and then worry about the column situation, I have a different Column from another 89 Camaro RS with all the same options with a key and the pass key box to attempt this swap.

My question is can I change the pass key box and not change the column to except the key and then break it free will I have issues or with I be able to get the car to run, Figure get it home and then change the column to. please let me know what everyone thinks as Im not sure if it should work as I dont know much about the VATS style systems as I usually work on pre-vats camaros. thanks for anyones help in advance.

 

You could exchange key cylinders between the two columns, then plug in the VATS module matching the key. Since you have no key, you will be needing a lock cylinder anyway.
