Electrical Issues in 91 Firebird.

I'm having a bit of trouble with some electrical issues on my new Firebird. (Well, new to me, anyway.) It seems that the previous owner made some serious modifications to the electrical system while installing a radio (An addition that I wouldnt mind keeping, were it not for the obnoxiously cobbled manner in which it has been installed.) The addition of the radio has left the fusebox hanging from wires (a situation I have temporarly rectified with a duct tape harness of sorts) and it seems that the hanging situation has hurt some of the interior operations of the car. The vehicle's electronic door locks do not operate, the trunk release is inoperable, and the interior lights, dashboard and overhead, do not function. The slight bit of troubleshooting I have done has placed a single fuse labeled ACC as a likely culprit in this problem. The fuse port in question blows a fuse the moment it is inserted. I cannot find the wiring problem, with my limited knowledge of the internal electronics of the vehicle in question, however I would like to track down the knowledge to get this issue repaired. It seems minor....I hope. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

This is going to sound ridiculous, but have you looked in the cigarette lighter? Often times a penny will fall into the socket causing fuses to blow. If the socket is empty you might want to check the wiring that goes to it for bare or loose spots.

It seems that a coil from an old Cigarette lighter insert was stuck in there. Got it out, plugged in a fuse, and my dome light came on.......with much celebration! Many thanks!

Sorry to re-bump, but still having some slight issues.

Although getting the crud out of my lighter socket did take care of the dome light, door locks (Even though the actual electronic lock mechanisims need some repair) and electric mirrors, I still get no dashboard background lights when i hit the switch. Would dash lights have been covered by the ACC fuse, or are they linked to something else. I've checked the other fuses and everything seems to check out ok, but i'm either missing something, or something is fried between the fusebox and the actual dash lights themselves.......which I can imagine will be a headache to fix.

Thanks in advance.

More than likely the dimmer for the dash lights is bad. They can get corroded and fail. It is the scrolling switch by the headlight switch. I don't think they are terribly expensive.
