Battery Placement, hatch? post your pics please...
Hey guys.. not sure if this is the correct place to post this question, but here goes;
I just bought a SLP Cold Air Induction kit for my '88 MAF TPI Camaro and I need to relocate my battery (on passenger side). I notice the Firebirds have the battery on the drivers side.. is there room on a Camaro to move the battery to the drivers side, or is my only option to move it to the hatch area?
Is there a specific 'camaro' kit I can buy to relocate my battery to the hatch (I mean battery tray specifically to fit behind the spare tire panel)?? Other then that.. what other options do I have?
Thanks...

theres no specific kit that i know of for our cars. putting it in the spare tire compartment is the best place to put it though IMO. it makes better weight transfer or whatever you call it. A normal kit is around 80 bucks with cables and a tray...it may take some welding or something to get it to stay solid in there. hope that helped

on my 92 RS the battery is on the drivers side because the breater assembly is on the passenger side. Now that I think about it I haven't seen an F-Body with the battery on the passenger side.

My '92 Firebird had the batt of the right because the vapor canister was on the left. Since lost the canister and moved the batt to the rt rear, in an aluminum batt box.

If you do decide to move the battery into the passenger compartment, do yourself a favor: buy an AGM style (Optima) battery. The two benefits of an AGM battery are they don't gas nearly as much as a standard battery and they are completely non-spillable so there's no chance of destroying the carpet or corroding the body of the vehicle. Of course, the flip side of this coin is the increased cost (about twice as much as a regular lead-acid battery). Also this would be a great opportunity to switch to a top post battery instead of a side terminal - top posts offer much better connection.

yea good point about the Optima battery.. I've already got a red top.. great batterys indeed.
I'd like to keep my battery under the hood.. just makes things easier for day to day.. plus I've already got my amp mounted and wired up in the spare tire compartment.
anyone tried relocating their battery to the opposite side of their car? I just don't see the room to do it... I'll have to wait until my CAI comes in.. perhaps it will be eaiser to modify that instead of relocating the battery.
