Alternator wiring change
I want to upgrade/revise the alternator wiring in my '82.1 because it has seen better days and 2 to clean up the top of the motor.I still run the stock 10si alt,no major sound system, although I do run an electric fuel pump and fans, otherwise just a charging system wiring upgrade.
My plan is to take the red wire on the alternator plug and loop it around to the battery lug on the back of the alternator case (keep it nice and short, instead of running all the way to the starter),extend or shorten the white wire (sensing?) as I want to run the wires down by the starter and then up to the alternator, and lastly upgrade the main charging wire (large red one) to the battery with a 8ga. wire with a 12ga. fusbile link.
Has anyone done this or see any problems with this plan?
