I have an 86 IROC that once it heats up, I have a problem with the instrument panel. I turn the headlights on and the right side goes dead. The light dims, the oil pressure, RPMs, everything on the right side of the instrument panel quits working, and the right turn signal indicator turns on and stays on (The turn signal still works properly). Does anyone have any idea what the deal is?

 

does the headlight come on dim?if it does it could be a bad ground for the headlight.clean the ground it's right by the headlight.you could be seeking ground through your turn signals and dash.

 

defnately sounds like a bad ground. I had that same issue in my ole Cougar when I accidently left the ground under the dash disconnected.

have you recently done any electrical work on your car? add anything new, removed anythng unneeded?

 

not me personally, but it does have a new CD player and a toggle switch for the fan. I'll take a look at that ground as soon as I get a chance.
