Car: 1984 Camaro
Engine: 2.8L V6 2BBL (yeah I know...)
Transmission: 700R4 automatic
Going to an aftermarket electric fuel pump for carbureted...
Using an MPFI block, I had to go with an in-line electric fuel pump to replace the mechanical setup. I have everthing I need to hook up the fuel lines, but am unsure about wiring the sucker....
I had been told once to run the negative to ground (straightfoward there) and the positive to the oil pressure sender. Is this the ideal way to do it, as far as performance and safety go? I was told that wiring it to the Oil press. sender won't allow the pump to run when the engine isn't running.

That is true. You can also just hook it up to any keyed hot wire, and add a relay for protection.
If you REALLY want, you can wire it up to the sensor, but that takes a little more work... I just wired mine in like a started above.

hooking it up to the sensor, it will stop if the engine stalls for any reason, right?

Well, yeah. The pump will stop, but you have a carb, so the car will still have fuel and use what it has in its bowls.
But yeah, whaterver. It is not a life and death thing, just wire it however you like. Depends how motivated you are. haha.

I wired mine to the old fuel pump connector of course you have a mech swithing to a electric, I would wire to a keyed switch or you could have a toggle switch added so you can turn it on or off at your pleasure and for security. I would (if you do that) out an inline fuse or relay to protect your pump though good luck
