hatch problem

trying to get my hatch motor to operate again...opened up fully when i plugged it in and it wasnt on the track..bolted it all up and closed the hatch and it won't suck it down. I just replaced the housing, gear and guides. Now im having trouble getting the assembly back together..i have the gear and bearing..is there something else that should be there? here are some pics of how i am assmebling it...i cant get the plastic housing to meet up with the metal plate anymore.,

Follow the instructions in the Tech Article I wrote that is on this web site. Or download the instructions for the 101170 nylon guides from Top-DownSolutions web site. I don't see the wave washer. It should be on the bottom of the gear nut as you install it into the housing. Screw the gear nut in 7 and a half turns. That will position the lift rod so you can install the reversing switch onto the motor housing. Switch of the reversing switch will be between the two tabs on the lift rod.

yea i read that article..and i just ordered the wave washer from you lol. I didnt quite understand it but i got it now..so seven and 1/2 turns huh? ok. Yea it was in a bunch of pieces so i had no idea how many turns it was on before hand..so it shouldnt turn it all the way up to where it meets the metal tab..like my picture above right?

I suspected that it was likely you that ordered the wave spring. It shipped today.

If you turn the gear nut all the way in until the bearing is snug to the bottom of the plate of the lift rod you will have a tough time installing the reversing switch. You COULD do it by that method IF you jumper +/- 12v to the terminals where the reversing switch connects. If supplying the power drove the lift rod down, reverse the polarity of the jumpers. You want to raise it enough to mount the reversing switch. The switch has a molded tab on it that fits into a slot on the housing. Something else I've found. If you sand off the 4 ridges on the OD of teh smaller shoulder of the gear nut it will cut down on the annoying pulsing of the motor you'll sometimes get after re-assembling it. I'm just sharing tips and tricks I've learned from re-building these over the years.

yea my motor was doing that after reassembly..it kept pulsing and i couldnt figure out why...

I had it all assmebled but it wouldnt suck the hatch down...and before i put the thing on the tracks, the motor full extended the assembly as if the hatch was open (like it was) and then i intalled everything and closed the hatch and nothing..wont suck it down..but i kept hearing the motor pulsing.
