Connection Problem or Failed Fuel Pump?
I have a 87 Camaro that I swapped a self-built 355 carb for the original 305 TPI awhile back. For the past couple yrs it has been in storage where I have it started a few times to keep it running well. However, this last time i started it i had a problem:
First, i kept the factory fuel pump and installed a 3 port fuel regulator which has been working great. Note: when you turn the car on, you can hear the furl pump turn on.
Once I had it started, it ran for about 15 minutes, then while i was in the car I saw the fuel gauge spike to full (from about 1/4 left) and the car died. I tried to start it again, but did not hear the fuel pump kick on and nothing happened.
My question: is this a connection problem, like bad ground, fuse, whatever with wiring, or did my fuel pump go bad?
Any insight on this problem would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would try to jump the fuel pump at the relay to see if it works. Not sure if it can be done at the ALDL connector. The diagram below is supposed to be for a '87 305 w/carb. It looks like you have the oil pressure switch in the fuel pump circuit. Check if fuel pump runs by jumping it & go from there.
