Hood Light Switch question
I have an 89 Camaro, and when I open the hood the light does not work. The inline fuse is good in the red wire that runs to it. They are connected to the harness with no nicks or crimps. What I do see that is weird, is, on the drivers side up by the head lights there is a switch. It goes up and down depending on hood position. There is one single grren wire coming from the switch. It has been cut for some reason, where does it go? I see another green wire coming from the harness by the drivers side marker light, but it has a connector on it, but is not plugged up to anything. Can I wire these two green wires together to get the light to work??

I do believe the underhood light only works if you have your headlights on. So i'm assuming that hooking a switch up to a marker light that sees 12 volts when the lights are one and only turns on the switch when the hood is open makes perfect sense.

On your 89, the light should be using a mercury switch, not a mechanical one. Check if the light has a good ground. If it doesn't, it won't work.
And the light should come on anytime the hood is opened, it's independent from headlights.
