Fan Relay?

I have a single fan setup on my 86 Berlinetta. Car came orginally with an LG4 and 700R4. It now has a 5 speed and 350. Car is no longer running any computer controls, and I've been deleting all my wires that are no longer in use from my engine bay. I'd like to delete this along with the bracket, But I'd like to know what it does before I remove it. (Eventually I'd like to put an MSD box or Jacobs coil in that spot). I see what I think is a fan relay on my passenger side near the headlights. According to my Chilton's wiring diagram for 1986 LG4 Equipped cars, it suggests that this also is a fan relay. Is this true or is it something else? The wires get buried into a giant loom and I can't tell where they go, otherwise I'd trace them and answer my own question.

Nevermind....

well I decided to tear into it and it turns out it is a fan relay.

I removed it. I'm going to use the other relay with a piggyback to a switch inside the car to run the fan.

now where to mount it.....

Find yourself a used factory Berlinetta cruise control ON/OFF switch and mount it right on the center console. The factory switch gives it a clean look and the cruise button has a green LED to show you when it's 'active'. The Cruise switch can be mounted either horizonally or vertically depending on your current options.

Thanks for the tip, but I decided to remove the whole electrical fan setup and I now have a clutch fan driven by the waterpump pulley. The weight difference between the two was neglegable. I'm trying to make my car as light and "bare bones" as possible. Basically my car is a V8 sport coupe clone. Next mod is deleting the antenna and power pull down motor.

sounds like a cool project, though I would have kept the electric fan(s) myself for the reduced parasitic drag. Are you going bare bones for the weight reduction??

partially..... I'm trying to get the curb weight with my 175lb body driving to under 3,200lbs.

As far as parasidic loss...its really not that much more strain on the engine. and besides, I don't "need" those extra luxury items (you know, like, power windows, power hatch, power locks..etc..) just seems to be one more issue that will have to be tended to when it breaks and another expence for the car.

I'd rather spend my 'car money' on a bigger bumpstick, stronger rear, better brakes...etc...

I hear you, I don't think you'll have too hard a time hitting that weight. I think that if I get another 3rd gen, it'll probably be a lo weight Camaro, make for a nice difference to my GTA
