Turn Signal Flasher Unit

Where is the turn signal flasher unit? I own a 1989 GTA. I have noticed that both the right and left turn signals have slowed. I did a search and someone posted this unit was under the dash but did not specify where under the dash. Is it located in the fuse box? I have noticed a large metal item in the fuse box along with the different coloured fuses.

I was looking for the same thing with the same symptoms, although my turn signals accually stopped working. I purchased the flasher at auto zone for 9.99 and i also have a Trans Am GTA 1989, The flasher is tucked underneath the the drivers side plastic kick panel, it is sitting on its own individual metal bracket being held on by one hex screw next to the radio pod (the plastic-ish metal bracket that holdes the radio unit in place) . the flasher if it is original should be a metal 1 1/2 inch diameter "plug". NOW NOTE THERE ARE TWO FLASHERS, THERE IS A HAZARD FLASHER AND A TURN SIGNAL FLASHER. The Turn Signal flasher i believe is on a u shaped clamp connected to the metal bracket i talked about earlier.(Test out the signals before you put everything back together). You were looking by the fuses but that is not where it is, it is a round type plug not rectangle type fuse.

I hope this helps and its not as complex as i may have made it out to be!!
Good Luck!
