5" tach in cluster?
Hey all
I have a question, How hard will it be to hook up my 5" tach into the stock camaros tach location. I dont care if i loose the oil pressure guage due it not working. The tach fits purfectly snug w/ the bracket in the opening but how do i get it to fit in do i need to cut the stock guage cluster? if so will that ruin anything else? any help is geat id love to do this tomorrow.
PS the tach is all wired already just want it in a new location. and under the vents i have 3 guages already.

I put a speedo and tach in mine last winter. You will have to cut and grind to make it fit. Took a bit of time and had to remove the cluster from the car.
I enlarged the holes in the outer trim piece and made them a tight enough fit to hold the gauges in place. There are no brackets behind the gauges securing them. Worked perfect.

The hole in the black trim piece had to be enlarged just enough to hold the gauge tightly.
The clear plastic piece on the cluster has to be modified and then there is a black metal piece under that that has to be cut as well and the old tach and mounting points are removed. You just have to cut and grind till there is enough room. Everything in the dash still works, minus oil pressure.
It took most of the day cutting and fitting and wiring everything so it looked and functioned right.
If I was just mounting a tach only I think I would have done it differently. Like 1987camarosport did.
