92 camaro lost key, need help bypassing.
ok so my buddy just got a 92 RS camaro but the ppl he bought it from lost the key. we ripped apart the stering collum so we could tow it to his house. after that we replaced the starter, wires, cap, rotor, and plugs. so we dont have a key and it looks like we stole the car, now we ran a wire to the batt. up to a push button switch, from the switch to the starter relay to turn the motor over. so that part works, we can here the fuel pump turn on when we turn the metal rod the ignition swich was conected too, we also have spark, but what i want to know is dose the security system not alow the injectors to work? we can crank the motor over but i never smell gas. any one done this befor? could use a little help. thx
i just bought a car like this.. pain for sure. i had to verify the vin to buy the right key from gm. $4. then had to pay basically a locksmith to go through the various resistor codes to match it up correctly to make the correct key. $100.
call your local dealer, they will have helpful suggestions or hopefully i would think.
if you wanted to steal the car then just cut out the vats, bypass the starter and run your necessary wires. if your that kind of thief you'll know what to do and wouldn't be asking here.
good luck, it's not fun i know..

i would think with a name like Z28_master, you would know most everything there is about Camaros
its not a stupid system, its doing exactly what it is designed to do, prevent the car from starting without the right key. outside of the lock cylinder & people loosing the keys, it was a good & mostly trouble free system.
VATS is short for Vehicle Anti Theft System.
as you have figured out, it disables the starter & injectors.
there are several ways to fix it, all of them take some time & some money.
like Kandied91z said, you can go to the dealer & may be able to find out which key you need.
you will need to take some kind of proof of ownership.
you'll also probably need a new lock cylinder & a pair of new keys cut.
if the dealer can't help you, with these two articles you should be able to figure out which key you need.

you can buy a module from Painless wiring to do away with the factory VATS module & then properly bypass the starter enable relay.
lastly you can properly bypass the starter enable relay & have VATS removed from the chip.

I recently lost the key to my 91 firebird. I got a new one cut at a local gm dealership it fits but they incorrectly informed me that my car does not have the vats system installed however when I turn the key It does not turn over. I read on here to ground the relay behind the driver side kickpanel with the black/yellow wire. It now will turn over but still not start. Do I need to energize or possibly ground out the fuel enable line going to the ecu? Or if there is something else im missing please let me know!!!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated

Either need new key cut with correct resistance pellet ,
install resistors of correct value for car ,
https://www.thirdgen.org/vats
VATS deleted on the prom

or
this device to supply the correct fuel enable ( injectors ) signal to the computer

I bought the vats bypass module but how do I know what wire is the fuel enable wire? I can just ground the starter but What wire do I splice into for the fuel?
