Headlights go down not up

I have a 86 firebird and the motors are good but the lights wont go up. If I put the lights up manualy, they work fine when I put them down. Cant figuire it out

need help please. thanks

I think there is a tech article on this site which describes the problem. There is a plastic gear inside the motor that wears out. You can get replacement gears or a whole new motor from our board sponsor Lon Salgren at http://www.top-downsolutions.com/

With the '86 models, there is also an isolation relay involved. If the "up" contacts in the isolation realy are not operating correctly, the headlight doors will not rise.
