Elec Fuel pump connector

Hey guys,
I am in the process of pulling my gas tank to replace the fuel pump. The connector is kept together using a white plastic 'pin'. I don't know how to get the connector apart without ripping/destroying it. Any hints on how to do this.
TIA

its not needed just pull it out and junk it. The connector has a snap coupeler, that white pin is just a safty. With a little care you can take it out without messing it up.

I fiddled with it for a bit, but the thin end of the pin (the part that goes through the actual connector), woudn't squish together enough to pass through. Using a set of needle nose pliers, wasn't helping, so in the end I had to cut the pin to get the connector apart.
Ah well...
