I have a similar problem...My rpms seem to be off by quite a bit. I have a carbed 350 with an HEI distributor. Any ideas?

Just like Apeiron said. double check that it's hookoed up to the distributor good. Mine seemed off for a few days once...then it stoped alltogether. turned out that the connector was loose, then it came off altogether.

You should have two connectors plugged into your coil. one for power and another for the tach. just make sure that they're plugged in nice and snug.

no fuse. at least none that have ever been on any of my 4 f-bodies. You must have a short somewhere, I doubt that it just up and stopped working. try using a multimeter ti check for a break in the wiring.

If the intake manifold is aftermarket that may account for the temp guage not working. where are the wires at that are cut?
their at the passenger side close to a thing that is connected to the smog and headers, its not a small part

the manifold is stock

I'm not sure exactly what they could be. Most likly part of the ECM harness. At least one of them are proably from the temp sensor. I had a lot of electrical issues with my 84 TA when I first got it. your best bet is to get a wiring diagram and track down what the wires are from and fix what needs fixed. since you've got a carbed engine there isn't much in that ECM that you really need. except things like cruise(if you have it), and the dummy lights. I'd remove the computer altogether.

Not really. I used the ones in a Haynes manual and made a lot up along the way. without the computer it only takes a couple hours to wire everything up. but if you want the ECM there are some pretty good diagrams in the Haynes manuals that you can pick up at autozone. If you do a search you can find some hard to find diagrams throughout the board.

Re: rpm dont work
We have wiring diagrams for all 3rdgen years on our ATGO TechDB page.
If you don't find anything wrong with the wiring of the engine sensors, chances are that the previous owner might have cut some wires even under the dash because the temp gauge showed constantly hot and tach bounced a lot. I've seen it happen before.
You need to find the sensors and try basic troubleshooting (grounding, disconnecting etc). Then you need to get under the dash and try troubleshooting there, again by grounding, measuring voltage etc.
Keep us posted.
